How Many Times Have You Experienced True Love?

Written by  | 21st February 2015

How many times have you truly been ‘In Love’?

Who can say what true love is?  Unless you have really experienced and have no doubt whatsoever, be it current, recent or years ago.  Then you know!

I would guess that most of us only need one hand to count at the most.  According to a new survey men fall in love more times in their life than women.  But do they and why would that be?

A recent survey asked 2000 people about relationships, and discovered that more than half of men say they've loved more than one person their lifetime.

For women, it's markedly fewer, with only 45 per cent saying they've had multiple loves. On the other hand, more female respondents, around 47 per cent, claimed to have had just one love; 39 per cent of men said the same. 5 per cent of each gender said they've never fallen head over heels, but most of these were under 24 and expressed hope that they still had time to do so.

Could it be, and this is only opinion, that men have a lesser estimation of what true love is, i.e. the bar is lower?  Therefore believing they are in love for a period?   Let’s face it if men think they have been in love time on average 5 times and women only once…. poor blokes have had a lot of unrequited love going on ;-)

I’m sure we can all feel for a period of time, they say the first 3 months is the timeline, when we would all like the idea of ‘this is love’, with a new partner, but this can rapidly fade in many instances.

Love is mutual; addiction or obsession with another is totally another thing.  If there is only one of you that feels true love in a relationship, it is probably time to change; you cannot change the other person.

Love does not include any abuse, control or unhappiness brought on by the other party. Love does not include any pain or proving a point. Love for a partner should not be unconditional.  Love is respect, happiness, trust, wanting to be with that person as much as you can, caring and supportive and that means both parties.

So how do you know when you have experienced true love and are you trying to seek it again?  Talk to our readers or just email into us with your experience.  One person will be picked out on 1st March for a free 20 minute reading.
