Reader Experiences - Doris Stokes

Written by  | 8th December 2011

Doris StokesDoris Stokes, a famous English Medium, wrote a book that I picked up in a second hand shop in Dublin's Arcade one fine summers day.  It was an old paperback, grey and well worn (just like me) but it was the best read I had had in a long time.

Immediately I felt it became a sort of Angelic talisman for my future and as I sat down in some a cafe, one of those internet places that I despise, I felt like there was some sort of energy raising going on, or whatever. A guy was looking at me and I was thinking "Throw it away" the book, get rid of that old washed up aoul granny, she’s the devils concubine.  Catholic fear and jealousy, may god forgive me, or them, or Doris, or whomever.

As I turned to choose to read it and reject this man, or his message, I knew that what was happening was my fault for causing fear and panic in others, who have the curiosity to seek my personal space anyway, looking at the cover of the book and seeing only what they fear to seek, whatever.  So one book later, I knew that it was for me.  The whole book was a part of my life now.

I had absorbed the author’s spirits or angelic storytelling vibe, or whatever and she had become a friend. My, yours, all of us, it’s in the details of the contract I signed in my own blood, only joking! But seriously, I met her two weeks later in Dublin and as having coffee leads to and Bam! There she was sitting beside me in my friend’s cafe.

Cosmic shmosmic, it’s just that life's the way he planned it, God, y’know? sitting in a cafe, wondering which way to go, musicians on my left, actors on my right, contracts signed for real world jobs for both but no real development for either career and there was this little old lady smiling at me knowingly, I was in shock, but I knew it was her.  We both went out for a smoke and stood beneath the sign for the ‘Nags Head’ pub that a gypsy woman I knew had coincidentally painted.  Now I’m a medium full time, that's all I'm going to tell you for now.
