Wintering: The Sacred Art Of Rest, Stillness & Recharging Your Soul

Written by  | 29th January 2026

Winter isn’t a season to push through. It isn’t here to test us or slow us down out of frustration. Winter arrives to teach us something most of us have forgotten how to do which is rest. Many of my clients I speak to feel like they have to supercharge into the new year and that is always misplaced right now. I love this time of year to rest, plan and manifest. Remember manifestations take time so you must plant your seeds now and what them grow this year.

In nature, everything withdraws. Trees shed. Animals hibernate. The earth itself becomes quieter, darker, more internal. And yet, as humans, we are often doing the opposite by filling diaries, forcing momentum, questioning ourselves if we’re not constantly “on”.

Winter is not a time for constant output. It’s a time for wintering.

Wintering is the sacred pause. The inhale before the exhale. The space where healing happens beneath the surface. This is the season where stillness becomes medicine.

Rest is not weakness. Stillness is not stagnation.

When we allow ourselves to slow down, we give our nervous system permission to soften. We allow our energy to settle back into the body. We stop leaking power through overthinking, over giving and overdoing.

This is why winter is such a potent time for Reiki, sound baths, energy healing and deep spiritual work. When the outer world quietens, the inner world becomes louder. During this season, energy work lands deeper. Reiki integrates more gently. Sound baths move through the body like warm water, melting what we didn’t even realise we were holding. Healing doesn’t need force — it needs space. Winter gives us that space.

One of my favourite practices and something I guide people through when I host spiritual events is the act of conscious clearing. There is something incredibly powerful about writing things down. Not typing. Not thinking Writing.

Take a piece of paper and ask yourself honestly:

  • What am I ready to release?

  • What energy feels heavy, outdated or no longer mine?

  • What patterns, fears or beliefs do I not want to carry into the next chapter?

Let it flow. Don’t censor it. This isn’t about being polite or spiritual, it’s about being truthful.

And then comes the magic.

Under the energy of the moon - especially a Full Moon, when release is amplified. I invite people to offer this paper to the fire. Safely, consciously, with intention. Fire transforms. It doesn’t judge. It doesn’t question.

I love to throw my paper into my log burner at home and we do burning ceremonies at our wellness events. As the paper burns, imagine the energy lifting from your body, your aura, your timeline. What you release here creates space for something new to enter.

This ritual is simple but simple does not mean small. It’s ancient. It’s embodied. It works.

If you have listened to my recent podcast on my page (If not I would recommend a listen as it will help you) I do talk about all things manifesting and what works. So to set the intention for the year.

Pick a Grabovoi number to amplify the energy at this time - it really does work!

A Grabovoi Number for the Year Ahead

Grabovoi numbers work beautifully when paired with intention and repetition — especially during winter when the subconscious is more receptive.

For the year ahead, I love working with the sequence:

520 741 8

This number is associated with harmonious life flow, overall success and alignment across all areas of life.

You can:

  • Write it in your journal daily

  • Meditate on it during Reiki or sound baths

  • Place it under your pillow

  • Write it on your palm and let it wash away

  • Add it to your vision board or planner

There’s no pressure — just gentle consistency.

Spring will come. Growth will follow. But first, allow yourself this sacred pause. Stillness is not the absence of movement — it’s the place where transformation begins.

Love & Light
