Tao Oracle Musings: "difficulty In The Beginning" And "completion"

Written by  | 17th June 2021

Continuing on my series of insights garnered from cards drawn from Ma Padma Deva's the “Tao Oracle” , I've drawn a lovely pair of cards. The first, “Difficulty in the Beginning” shows things getting off to a rough start, but it is a start. Sometimes life changes, even positive ones, can hurt. We may feel confined by our current situation or that we have outgrown our current circumstances. Yet at the same time, we may fear breaking out of our shell because we have come to feel secure where we are and it seems that chaos reigns all around us.

All of this is growing pains, and the process of growth is a slow, difficult one. We need to break out of our secure bubble the way a chick breaks out of an egg - by pecking away at it slowly and gradually until we've created enough space to move. Obstacles may block our path, but we can move through them the way a blade of grass grows through a crack in the sidewalk: slowly, patiently and sure of triumph in the end.

But what will this growth process, this gradual picking away at the barriers in our lives, achieve? The second card says "Completion". You'll start to recognize patterns in the seemingly random events around you. This will allow you to get into the flow of things and find order within the chaos, instead of trying to impose it from without.

Once you've found your flow, take care that you don't become complacent. While it's perfectly appropriate to pause, rest a bit and enjoy what you've achieved, you still want to keep reaching. You may have the material and emotional aspects under control, and it's tempting to want to rest on your laurels and neglect the higher, spiritual aspects. You need to give back, to release your positive energy back to the Universe.

As long as we're living, we need to be growing. We need to keep leaning, keep making new connection, keep striving to become better, more loving, more compassionate. To cease to grow is stagnation and death. Now, go find that weak spot in the concrete of your life. Slowly, steadily, you will work your way to liberation.
