A Christmas Poem

If every day were Christmas

In heart as well as mind

Surely we'd find comfort

In people of our kind

With streets a glow with wonder

With peace to fill our hearts

As words of joy and happiness

Be from our cold lips passed...

Ah' if every day were Christmas

If the season didn't end

Would it be we'd bridge the gap

Between every foe and friend?

Might everybody feel content

And starlight show the way

As sisters, brothers, even lovers

Reflect upon the day

A day spent in togetherness

Where everything felt right ...

If every day were Christmas

Could love be out of sight?

In my soul I feel the answer,

I know love would not sleep

So let's pretend it's Christmas Day

Our eternal gift to keep
