How to Balance and Activate Your Chakras And Why It Helps

Written by  | 24th July 2026

Have you ever felt emotionally drained, lacking confidence, or disconnected from yourself? According to many spiritual traditions, these feelings can sometimes be linked to imbalances within your chakra system. Chakras are believed to be seven main energy centres that run from the top of your head to the base of your spine. Each one influences different aspects of your physical, emotional, and spiritual wellbeing. When your chakras are balanced, energy flows more freely, helping you feel calmer, more centred, and connected. The good news is that balancing your chakras doesn’t have to be complicated. With a few simple daily practices, you can encourage healthy energy flow and bring greater harmony to your mind, body, and spirit.

We’ll begin at the Crown Chakra and work our way down to the Root Chakra, bringing your awareness from the spiritual realm back into the physical world. Crown Chakra (Sahasrara) The Crown Chakra is located at the top of your head and represents your connection to higher consciousness, spiritual wisdom, and the universe. When it is balanced, you may feel peaceful, inspired, and connected to something greater than yourself. To help balance your Crown Chakra, try:

* Spending time in quiet meditation.
* Practising mindfulness and stillness.
* Sitting in silence and reflecting on your spiritual connection.
* Visualising a beautiful white or violet light above your head.
* Repeating affirmations such as:
* I am connected to the universe.
* I am open to divine guidance.

Third Eye Chakra (Ajna) The Third Eye Chakra is found between your eyebrows and is linked to intuition, insight, and inner wisdom. A balanced Third Eye Chakra can help you trust your instincts and see situations more clearly. To activate this chakra:

* Meditate regularly.
* Spend quiet time listening to your intuition.
* Practise mindfulness to calm the mind.
* Visualise a deep indigo light between your eyebrows.
* Repeat affirmations such as:
* I trust my intuition.
* My inner wisdom guides me. As your mind becomes quieter, your intuition often becomes stronger.

Throat Chakra (Vishuddha) The Throat Chakra is your centre of communication and self-expression. It encourages you to speak honestly, listen carefully, and express your authentic self. To balance your Throat Chakra:

* Speak your truth with kindness and confidence.
* Write your thoughts and feelings in a journal.
* Sing, hum, or chant.
* Use the mantra HAM during meditation.
* Visualise a bright blue light glowing in your throat. The more comfortable you become expressing yourself, the more balanced this chakra can feel.

Heart Chakra (Anahata) Located in the centre of your chest, the Heart Chakra represents love, compassion, forgiveness, and emotional healing. It helps you build healthy relationships with both yourself and others. To open your Heart Chakra:

* Practise forgiveness for yourself and others.
* Show kindness whenever you can.
* Spend time with people who uplift and support you.
* Meditate on feelings of love, gratitude, and compassion.
* Imagine a glowing green light filling your chest. Letting go of old hurts can create space for love and healing to flow more freely.

Solar Plexus Chakra (Manipura) The Solar Plexus Chakra is located above your navel and is associated with confidence, personal power, motivation, and self-belief. To strengthen this chakra:

* Set small, achievable goals.
* Celebrate your successes, no matter how small.
* Practise positive self-talk.
* Visualise a bright yellow light glowing in your upper abdomen.
* Repeat affirmations such as:
* I am confident.
* I am strong.
* I believe in myself. A balanced Solar Plexus Chakra can help you feel empowered and confident in your daily life.

Sacral Chakra (Svadhisthana) The Sacral Chakra sits below your navel and is connected to creativity, emotions, pleasure, and passion. It encourages you to embrace joy and express yourself freely. To balance your Sacral Chakra:

* Express yourself through art, music, dancing, writing, or any creative hobby.
* Spend time near water or enjoy a relaxing bath.
* Allow yourself to experience and express your emotions in healthy ways.
* Visualise a warm orange light flowing through your lower abdomen. When this chakra is balanced, creativity and emotional wellbeing often flow more naturally.

Root Chakra (Muladhara) The Root Chakra is located at the base of your spine and forms the foundation of your energy system. It represents safety, stability, security, and your connection to the Earth. To balance your Root Chakra:

* Walk barefoot on grass or soil.
* Spend time in nature.
* Practise grounding breathing exercises.
* Visualise a deep red light at the base of your spine.
* Focus on feeling calm, stable, and connected to the Earth. Grounding techniques can also help reduce stress and anxiety while encouraging you to feel more present and centred.

Final Thoughts Working from the Crown Chakra down to the Root Chakra allows you to connect with your higher self before bringing that energy gently back into your body. As you reach the Root Chakra, you finish feeling more grounded, centred, and present. Remember that balancing your chakras is a personal journey. Even spending a few minutes each day meditating, visualising your energy, or practising mindful breathing can help restore balance and support your overall wellbeing. If you’d like to explore your chakras in more depth or discover where your energy may be out of balance, I’d be delighted to help. During a personal reading, we can look at your energy centres, identify any blockages, and discuss ways to help restore harmony. If I’m unavailable, one of the other experienced psychics on the site will also be happy to guide you on your spiritual journey.
