Retrograde And Retro Laundry

Written by  | 17th December 2017

Sunday 10th December 2017

I woke at a leisurely pace for a change, no early morning school schedule meant I could do some extra meditation and stretching (much needed any healing for my neck and shoulder most welcome by the way!).

I drew back my curtains to see this....

snowy garden

It was one of those WOW moments that many people must have had over the weekend.

So unexpected as there was nothing the night before.

I am a sun lover and the kids always want snow and I kinda got it this time.

I felt like a child in awe of this wondrous magical sight and felt so grateful to still be able to feel like that and not have lost that perspective on the world.

So that was the beautiful morning. I even trudged to the supermarket to pick up a couple of bits I needed. Again, feeling like a kid as I heard the crunch of freshly fallen snow under my boots. (That's about as far as I get with snow. I am so clumsy I can trip over air, so icy weather is not for me!)

Then in the afternoon a funny thing happened. All the appliances cut out. Aha! Power cut - Mercury retrograde at its finest I thought. But it was only the sockets, the lights were still on. Mercury retrograde really at its finest!

After investigating and trying a number of things it was the washing machine that did it! (sounds like Cluedo - it was the washing machine, in the kitchen with the powder) Anyway, I'd just put a full load on so it was soaked and unwashed which meant I ended up washing the clothes by hand - something I had not done in a loooong time. I even purposely check washing instruction labels on clothes before I buy them to make sure they are not hand wash only  (sad but true).

So it took me about the same time as the washing machine! Not that I want to make a habit of this but it was an interesting observation. It was snowing and I wasn't going anywhere so it was one of those kind of cosy homey experiences. (as I said not one that I want to make a habit of).

The other thing that amused me was the order in which we decided to turn on appliances to find the fault.  WiFI came pretty high on that list! Higher than TV! Sign of the times eh? :-)

To top it all off, over these last few days passwords have gone funny, phone was switched off, websites needed updating last minute and re-updating. Even this blog! I tried inserting the photo and it gave me an error so I had to use a different editor.

Needless to say I am already very grateful for the very cushy world we live in. It's strengthened my appreciation and as I look at growing laundry mountains (actually I'm not looking, I'm looking the other way!) I will be even more grateful when I have a working washing machine again.

Much love and wishing you all

A Very Merry Christmas!

C xx

p.s. Mercury goes direct just before Christmas Day so fingers crossed!
