The witch at the end of the world

The Witch at the End of the World.

Normally when drawing a card for the day, I'm asking for advice or for the cards to show what is important for me to know that day. Today while shuffling I concentrated on what we need to leave behind at the end of this year before moving forward into the new year. The card that I drew is The Witch at the End of the World, which just by it's name is extremely fitting, plus it's the last card of this particular deck, The Oracle of Shadows and Light. The keywords on the card are, "An important end, a new beginning," and the weather in the background of the card is echoing what's been happening here lately too; stormy and grey. Synchronicity is at work here I think.

This card reminds me very much of The Death card in Tarot. It's about changing the things that are present in your life into something new. One way to look at endings is that they are just the completion of a chapter, and the next chapter is about to start. Things don't have to carry on being the same if you don't want them too, you have the power to make alterations in your life and to move forward in a new direction.

The sands of time are trickling through the hourglass regardless of what we do, so it's up to us to make the most of the time we have available. Rather than spending time regretting what has or hasn't been done up until now, it's better to focus on what we want to do and where we want to go next. This is the time of year that people traditionally make new resolutions, reflect on what has been and gone, and think about what they want for the future. This is a good time to turn your back on bad habits, clear the slate and stop punishing yourself for past actions.

Change is here, whether we like it or not, so rather than fighting against it, rolling with it and letting go of the past will be the less painful path. Knowing that change is coming can help us to prepare and deal with it better, making the process smoother.

Let the past end, it's time to take an active part in your new beginning.
