The Empress

I am an Empress by Charnjit Bains

The Empress is card number 3 in the major arcana and represents creativity and nurturing, motherhood.  The mother nurtures but who mothers the mother?  Remember to nurture yourself and be open to receive and accept motherly love in wahever form it may come.  "A good mother does not smother" - Much can be achieved just by being there, offering suggestions when asked and then letting go.  Letting go is one of the toughest parts of motherhood but has an empowering effect on her "children" allowing them to spread their wings and not only fly but soar, knowing that they can always rely on their mother's love and support if they fly too close to the sun. Give from the heart free of expectation and you can't go wrong. "He maketh me to lie down in green pastures" - free of fear, free of friction, free of pests, free of hunger.  To be at rest, free of fear, tension, aggrivation and hunger - this is what a mother's prescence provides.  This is what the Empress provides.
