Have you ever thought of your pet this way?  All intelligent people know by now all sentient beings have feelings, so what can we do for our other brothers and sisters, spiritually speaking? Prayers can be said for stressed or sick pets, Saint Francis of Assisi, Lord Krishna or Jesus will send love healing and peace to you and your pet, whenever you call to them for help. 

I have the good fortune to know two fantastic vets, you both know who you are...  who when it comes to having to put a little furry friend to sleep, at the end of their life always lets myself and my friends, stay with them right till the end, holding them and praying for them. The feeling of peace and joy is so strong for all of us in the room... anyway I just felt some of you beautiful Pet minders might find these ideas helpful and healing for you and your Pets, yes those little guys and gals who really are  love in fur coats.
