You may feel that this is dishonest but it is not, it is necessary for you to protect yourself from the possible influences of other people. It is important now that you watch your back and go for what you want for your own good. Don't give up. Keep persevering. This is difficult. You will have to keep ducking and diving and you've got to be careful that you don't bump into things. you've got to see the obstacles coming and be ready for them. Look where you are going, plan ahead, make sure that you keep going. You need to do this. Don't feel uncomfortable that such an extreme change of direction is unethical or dishonest and don't feel that you need to discuss or get the approval from others or to be influenced in any way. This is you. This is what you want. You need to do this knowing that you've done this alone with no influence or input from anyone else. This is a time for you to have a deep emotional commitment to your goals for you and you need the freedom to move without any pressure or interference from people around you. This is probably linked in some way to a relationship and needs a closeness and a sharing of an imagination and a spiritual experience with somebody who you trust but keep things to yourself until you are happy to trust the very person you feel you want to make this known to.
