How To Tune Into Your Loved Ones’ Presence After They’ve Passed

Written by  | 2nd April 2026

When someone we love passes over, the connection doesn’t end. It simply changes form. What used to be physical, spoken, or shared in familiar ways transforms into subtle energy, signs, feelings, and impressions. The challenge for many of us is learning to recognise these new ways of communication. Without awareness, the messages can feel like coincidences, fleeting thoughts, or moments of intuition. But once you develop sensitivity, you can begin to interpret these signs and feel truly guided by the ones you love.

The first step is creating space for their presence. This doesn’t need to be complicated. Take a few quiet moments each day to pause and breathe. Allow yourself to notice small shifts in your surroundings, in your emotions, or in the way your mind drifts to memories or thoughts. These are often the channels through which your loved one is reaching out.

Trust your intuition. Often the first nudges are subtle - a thought that appears out of nowhere, a sudden feeling, or a song on the radio that feels pointed. Journalling is incredibly helpful. Write down the moments that feel significant, no matter how small or ordinary. Over time, patterns emerge. You may notice that your dad’s energy shows up around certain decisions, or your mother’s guidance comes in dreams. These little recognitions are proof that the connection continues and is always accessible if you pay attention.

Raising your sensitivity is about noticing energy and trusting it. Pay attention to changes in your surroundings, shifts in mood, or feelings that arise unexpectedly. Often, these subtle signs are ways your loved one is communicating, reminding you that they are nearby. Gratitude is key. Acknowledging their presence amplifies your connection. Even a simple “I see you, I feel you” internally can open a channel for more meaningful interactions.

Another way to practice is through intention. Before going into your day, set a quiet intention to be aware of your loved one’s signs. Tell yourself you are open to noticing messages in thoughts, feelings, and coincidences. Over time, this primes your awareness, and you may start to notice signs you had previously overlooked. This isn’t about forcing communication; it’s about tuning in so that when their energy is present, you can recognise it.

Pay attention to dreams as well. Often, the most profound communications happen when the conscious mind is at rest. Keep a notebook by your bed and record any dreams that feel vivid, symbolic, or emotionally charged. Over time, you will start to see the connections between these dreams and your waking life, giving you reassurance and guidance.

Finally, understand that this connection is ongoing. It does not come in grand gestures but in quiet moments, impressions, and feelings that nudge you toward clarity or comfort. The more you practice noticing these signs, the easier it becomes to recognise their presence in daily life. You will start to feel their guidance in decisions, their reassurance in moments of doubt, and their love in unexpected ways. The ones we love never truly leave; they simply learn a new language, and we learn to listen with our hearts.

Practical Ways to Tune In Daily

  1. Morning Pause: Before starting your day, take 2-3 deep breaths and silently invite your loved one’s presence. Say something like, “I am open to noticing you today.” Even this brief intention can heighten your awareness.
  2. Mindful Observation: Throughout the day, notice subtle shifts—like sudden thoughts, feelings, or sensations. These can be their ways of reaching out. Don’t overthink or force meaning; simply observe.
  3. Gratitude Acknowledgment: When you sense their presence, mentally or aloud acknowledge it: “I see you, I feel you, I hear you.” Gratitude amplifies the energy and strengthens the connection.
  4. Dream Recording: Keep a notebook beside your bed. Write down dreams, fragments, or impressions that stand out. Over time, you’ll start seeing links between these messages and your waking life.
  5. Journalling Synchronicities: When small coincidences, signs, or memories arise during the day, jot them down. Patterns will begin to form, showing guidance, reassurance, and love from your loved one.
  6. Nature Check-ins: Step outside or near a window and notice sensations - the breeze, sunlight, or sounds. Often, messages come through in these moments of quiet connection with the world.
  7. Body Awareness: Feel for subtle changes in energy in your body - tingles, warmth, or heaviness - when thinking of your loved one. These are often their gentle nudges guiding you or showing they are near.

These exercises are simple, natural, and don’t require “special powers.” They help you recognise, interpret, and trust the ongoing presence of those you love, making their guidance a real and comforting part of everyday life.

Have fun playing with this xx
