Communication Within a Relationship

29th November 2018

Communicating in a relationship is important for the relationship to grow and bond, we communicate in many ways other than speech, such as body language, tone of voice, the way we present ourselves, facial expressions.

Talking to your partner about things you don’t usually say or things you have stopped talking about over a period, can help you bond better and understand where each other are coming from. Everyday conversations are the spoken words that are said without listening properly and are just passed by.

It can feel uncomfortable at times, but it is important to build trust between a relationship. Expressing your feelings will tackle feelings head on, rather than keeping them to yourself. As very often they will surface later, storing them up expands them and then the come out as a much bigger deal often causing a bigger argument than necessary. Most people value everyday conversations more than big relationship discussions.

Being able to understand yourself, helps when expressing your feelings to another. People often like to feel involved in their partners lives, and then being interested in theirs. You both shared feelings and understanding when you first got together, otherwise you would never have got together in the first place. Sometimes it is necessary to revisit that place emotional or physically to find a place to start.

We spend most of our times at work so a quick debrief about work before settling down into your Sharing your problems and fears with one another.

  • Talking and listening to one another
  • Sharing your everyday life’s
  • Time together can help and separate your work life from your personal life’s.

All help to build a trustworthy relationship, laughing together gives pleasure to both you, it is often the thing people remember best about your time together. Raising a smile often diffuses a difficult moment.

Non-verbal communication and silences are often equally precious. They can speak volumes, say more than spoken words could ever hope to articulate. Short phone calls, text messages or computer messages are valuable ways of demonstrating your love and appreciation through out the day, showing them that you are thinking of them and that you care.

Recognising all relationships differ from time to time, to agree to disagree is a much better approach than believing one person is right and the other wrong.

For an in-depth relationship reading or a reading in general for clarity and an insight into a situation give me a ring.
