So atmospheric and some would say creepy too, spooky experiences are many within the secretive walls of this haunted and notorious jail. Upon entering the dilapidated building that by reputation for some can conjure up a sense of dread, with chills down my spine, some people will not dare even visit here. The candlelight flickers, the silence that can be heard among creaking floors, haunting footsteps, as we explore it's paranormal depths. Firstly we met by the gallows; we all gathered nervously, many were hung there, we listened to the archaic creaks with the whistling winds, that create a haunting score. Many of us were dressed in period costumes that evening; crushed velvets with lace, satins and flowing silks with elegant touches.
Inside the jail, we all stood hand in hand, clasping very tightly, in the darkness. Firstly I felt a very cold sensation from behind me. A voice with echoes said questioningly "Is there anyone there" then a nervous voice said "something's moving around us all". Each of us felt something circling us as one remarked "I can feel a presence" followed by "yes me too, it feels icy cold". The shadows cast mesmerising images, that triggered clairvoyant visionary responses in some members of the seance, as an alarmed voice exclaimed "I can see a figure gradually growing bigger, its behind the person wearing the theatrical ghost-like mask" and another remarked "its hooded with dirty worn clothes". Followed by "I can smell burning. In agreement a few more voices echoed "so can I". I remarked, "I can see flames and I have a feeling of choking". Everyone started to cough uncontrollably. The medium explained, "we think there's been an unrecorded fire" here. The suffocating choking feeling was overwhelming us all, then we sensed tears and weeping - a few of us sensitive enough to shed the tears of those who suffered there, or exclaimed their innocence many years past. A blunt rushed voice said "Lets break the circle, it's getting too much, struggling to breathe now". At that point we heard a voice cry out from the darkest corner, screaming hurriedly some guests just exited out of the building.
Later in the early hours of the morning, the remaining guests heard footsteps, entering the building from outside. When they were sat round the fireplace, thinking they had returned, when they looked no one was there!
